We are very excited to present the catalog for our first participation in the AKAA (Also Known As Africa) Art Fair in Paris, the first and foremost contemporary art fair focused on art from the African continent in France. Having visited this vibrant fair for many years, we are proud to now be a part of it for its ninth edition. AKAA is frequented by an international public of collectors, curators, and art aficionados and renowned for being a place to discover new talents. Held in the beautiful Carreau du Temple, in the heart of the charming Marais neighborhood, we are honored to present works by three such artists: Sibusiso Ngwazi, Mohammed Arrhioui, and Diane Marie Uwase.

Mohammed Arrhioui uses eggshells as a material to explore themes of fragility and human vulnerability. His delicate works, which reflect on personal loss and the precariousness of life, invite viewers to contemplate the balance between resilience and weakness. Arrhioui’s practice explore the fragile beauty of existence, merging the physical and emotional fragility of the human experience in his captivating artworks.

Diane Marie Uwase is a self-taught artist whose portraiture delves into themes of identity, memory, and personal growth. Her beautiful paintings reflect her experiences of displacement and self-discovery. Through intimate and emotionally charged portraits, Uwase captures the complexity of human emotion and the search for self among Belgium’s Rwandan community.

Sibusiso Ngwazi draws from his Zulu heritage to create abstract works that blend rhythmic movement with ancestral spirituality. In his unique style, Ngwazi creates dynamic canvases that embody a meditative state of creation and a deep connection to his cultural roots. His unique mark-making technique evokes the unseen forces of nature and spirit.

We invite you to explore this catalog and delve deeper into the captivating works of these three artists. We look forward to welcoming you at AKAA, where you can experience these moving works in person.
